Hi friends,
When am solving the Unsteady state problem in CFX-10. When i tried to edit the 'run in progress' following error came. Error detail: An error has occurred in cfx5control: The CFX Command Language editor was interrupted by singnal SEGV (11). I could open the ccl file and make changes & save as well but when i 'exit' the editor the reported error comes. Even wtih this error no changes are seen in ccl file, even after saving, but solver doesn't stop it keeps going on well. Has anybody noticed similar kind of problem? Is it problem of operating system? I am using Linux RED HAT9 operating system. Thanks in advance Tuks |

Hi,
Editting a run in progress is not supported for transient simulations. That is why it is crashing. Regards, Glenn Horrocks |

Hi Glenn,
Is it the case with CFX-10, that we cannot edit run inprogress? I had editied the unsteady state run in progress in CFX-5.7 & CFX-5.7.1. I think CFX-10 should allow it. May be you are right but I don't think the latest version will be restrictive than previous ones. Thank you for kind reply. Tuks |

I can edit a transient run in progress with CFX-10. You may want to check with tech support of your problem.

Hi longbow Thank you for your reply, but even simple problem(with physics) which is working in CFX-5.7.1 (i was able to edit run in progress), is giving the problem in CFX-10. I was also not able to open the CFX-license manager from TOOLS menu. I suspect it is problem of compatibility. What i did is i just removed the CFX-5.7.1 and then installed CFX-10.0. Again i will mension that OS is REDHAT9. So Any clue? Thank you once again. Tuks

That is a bit strange because I usually edit my runnings in progress. All my runs are transient and I'm also using Linux. I'm quite sure that it has worked for me in CentOS 4 (redhat-like) and with Suse 9.3 and 10.0 (newest Suse version).
My edited runs applied to 5.7.1 and now applies to CFX-10.0. So, I don't have any idea why can't you make it. I don't think that is a linux related problem. Does your problem occurs in serial or in parallel? Here, I can change it in both ways. Regards, Stevie Wonder |

Hi all,
I agree with everyone. Thank you for your kind reply. There seems to be some minor problem. To check what could be the problem i reinstall both CFX-5.6 and CFX-10.0 but now i am NOT ABLE TO RUN the CFX-license manager (by both using CFX-5.6 and CFx-10.0). I am getting following problem. /opt/cfx/Licensing/Linux/cfxlm.exe: relocation error: /opt/cfx/Licensing/Linux/libqt.so.2: symbol _res, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference What is it? The machine on which it is loaded is client machine (OS REDHAT9). Please help me out it is urgent. Thanks again Tuks |

Why would you need the old CFX-5.6 version? Just install the CFX-10.0 and its own version of the CFX License Manager. You should get rid of this errors. Anyway, if you still get libraries errors, please paste them here that we'll try to solve them for you.
Good luck, S. W. |

Hi all, Thank you for your reply. I GOT the RID OF PROBLEM. The problem appeared because there were some libraries missing, glibc-2.3.3-27.9.7 and glibc-common-2.3.2-27.9.7, which were necessary (to avoid problem with compatibility of CFX). This is given in CFX-Installation guide (For OS REDHAT9). But again i wonder even these libraries were not there, i was using the CFX-5.7 & 5.7.1 and since i loaded CFX-10 it gave the problem.
Anyway I got the solution. I could EDIT RUN IN PROGRESS. Thank you all for valuable inputs. Regards Tuks |
