Hi,

previously, I worked with CFX 14.5 and didn't face weird problems. For example now I imported the same mesh into cfx 19.1 with the exact conditions and materials but I can't run it! It is the same mesh which I imported into cfx14.5 and run it but I see that in cfx19.1 for the domain interface there are some different with ansys 14.5's (please see the pics). I will really appreciate if you help me on this issue.

many thanks in advance

This is not really something we can help you with. You are going to have to look at the surfaces and work out whether your mesh is OK to use or if it requires remeshing.

Don't forget you can always change the mesh regions your boundaries are defined on, so just because some faces are renamed and some new faces appear does not necessarily cause a problem.

Thanks for your swift response.
But as mentioned before, I imported te mesh file into cfx 14.5 and can run it easily but now with the same boundary conditions and methods etc, I can't run it I got the following errors and tried to solve the problem but ..

ERROR #002100013 has occurred in subroutine Chk_Splane. |
Message:
The symmetry boundary condition requires that the boundary patch
mesh faces form a plane or axis. However, face set 5 in the
symmetry boundary patch

fluid Default

is not in a strict plane, which means that at least one of its
faces is not parallel to the others. To make the solver run
you can do one of the following:

(1) Make sure that this symmetry boundary patch is in a plane or
axis by checking and regenerating the mesh.
(2) If the symmetry boundary patch is an axis rather than a
plane, change the tolerance of the degeneracy check by
increasing the value of the Solver Expert Parameter
'degeneracy check tolerance' (the default value is 1.e-4).
(3) Increase the value of the Solver Expert Parameter
'vector parallel tolerance' (the default value is 1 deg.).
Note that the accuracy of the symmetry condition may decrease
as the tolerance is increased. This is because the tolerance
is the number of degrees that a mesh face normal is allowed
| to deviate from the average normal for the entire face set.

No one on this forum has access to the CFX source code. So I have no idea what they changed between CFX 14.5 and 19.0. So the fact it worked in 14.5 and does not work in 19.0 is not very useful.

All I can suggest is you do some simple debugging and fix it up.

For instance the error you are quoting now simply says that a surface you have defined as a symmetry is not planar. So have a look at that surface, figure out what bit is not planar and fix it up!

How can I check and fix it up? I have no idea about that.

Make sure your two symmetry plane faces are 2 different faces. If they share the same name, you cant use symmetry on them as they are not the same plane. go back into your mesh and give them separate names.

I checked and they have different names. Also when I change "symmetry" to "wall" but I cant run it and I got the following error:
ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. |

well, I don't think the mesh has problem itself. since I saved several cfx files with using that mesh and now I can open them with ansys 19.1 and change some thine in them and still can run them without any problem.

Coarse mesh with "symmetry planes" that are not quite flat? Can you remesh it? Or relax the expert parameter which checks it as the output error states? Remeshing would be preferred if it is a bad mesh, how does it look?
No idea about your second problem.

now I found the solution. In cfx 14.5 for each domain I have one domain interface but in ansys 19.1 as you see in each domain I have 2 interface regions so for each domain (solid and fluid) I select 2 regions. Now It is running but very very slowly!!
