Hi all, I use two versions of cfx on my machine. Windows version and another one operates linux from ssh node. I must operate exceed to see CFX-pre or launch. I cannot see GUI in cfx-pre or cfx-post for linux version. I see them in windows version. Does anyone know a solution? thanks ali

Did you use -X at the end of the command when you start SSH ? e.g. ssh -l usr .. -X -X stands for importing display

1. from the linux machine you have to set the DISPLAY environment variable to your machine

setenv DISPLAY mymachinename:0.0

This will bring the GUI up.

2. The graphics viewer, however doesn't come up by default with just Exceed. It tries to use OpenGL to display the viewer, and you will need Exceed3D also. Alternatively, you can run pre and post from the command line using the mesa graphics switch (see cfx5pre -help for exact syntax). It's slower, but works if you don't have Exceed3D.

3. Under the Exceed protocols you will also have to toggle on the GLX extensions to use the OpenGL calls (instead of mesa)

SuSe Linux also needs the latest Exceed (10?) which has the latest GL extensions or it won't work properly.

Hope this helps, Jeff
