ICEM - irregular mesh at edge ?

Hi, I am new to ICEM-CFD. I imported an iges (or stl) file to icem-cfd. When I refined the boundary using prism layers, I always get bad edges (not smooth as in the original CAD file). i.e. the algorithm did not mesh according to the CAD edge (especially at orthogonal planes) Does anyone know what went wrong ? Thank you in advance. (version: ICEM-CFD 5.1)

Hi,
Are there lines on all hard edges of the geometry? ICEM need lines at hard edges and points at hard points. Regards, Glenn |

As Glenn mentioned you want curves and points that define hard features in the geometry. The best way to get these is via Geometry > Repair Geometry > Build Diagnostic Topology. You'll need to designate an appropriate tolerance value (typically 1/10 your smallest desired mesh element size) and a filter angle. The filter angle is used to remove points and curves that don't define hard features in the geometry.

Thank you to both of you. I will try it.
