Hello,

1. How can I find the average length of the streamlines from the inlet face to the outlet face?

I was going to divide that by the "volumeAve(Velocity)@Assembly" to find the approximate residence time of the fluid in the geometry.

2. Also, what exactly does "Length Average of Time on Streamline 1" give me? Is it the average time the streamline takes from start to end?

Thank you for your inputs!

1 Try something like Ave(length)@<streamline object name>
2 The streamline is made up of small segments. At each segment you have a time along streamline. So "length average of time on streamline 1" means the average of all those segments from the start (where time =0) to the end (where time = max time). As you are taking the length average then it should return half of the maximum time.

2. aha, thank you. So then I guess 2 times of "length average of time on streamline 1" gives me the max. residence time of the fluid in the geometry directly

You can also do a "length()@<Streamline name>", and then divide this by the number of streamlines.
