I am currently running time-consuming simulation using CFX through Workbench. I am trying to streamline the process between running initial upwind scheme to get an approximate solution then switching to high resolution scheme without user interference overnight/weekend. I have looked online and can't find a solution other than manually doing so. Has anyone found a solution for this?

You can do this outside Workbench, running CFX as standalone package using a batch file.

You can setup a "multi-configuration" simulation
First Analysis with Upwind Duplicate the First Analysis, Rename as you wish, say Second Analysis Change Upwind to High Resolution in the second analysis Second simulation with High Resolution, starting once the first is over Save definition file, open Solver Manager, start the run. Once finished, you can see both simulations. |

Is it possible to set the initial solution of the high resolution scheme as the solution of the upwind scheme automatically?

Yes!!
For each analysis, you define the run parameters. That means, you set the second analysis to use the initial values file as the results file of the first analysis. |
