Default FEDORA CORE and PARALLEL processing

Hi all,

I am using the FEDORA CORE1 for CFX. On which the CFX serial run is working fine but the CFX PARALLEL is not working. Some of the cfx-support persons say that PARALLEL run is not supported on FEDORA CORE.Even if the cfx is installed as user, it is not working.

Is any body using the FEDORA CORE for parallel?.

First, is it any difference in having parallel license mentioned in CFX_LICENSE FILE and the parallel license mentioned in ANSYS_LICENSE FILE. Because it is mentioned in CFX_LICENSE as well as i got it another in ANSYS_LICENSE.

IMP: More importantly we have different machine as server for ANSYS_LICENSE_PARALLEL than one for CFX.

I was not able to installel the ANSYS_LICENSE FILE and also ANSYS_MANAGER couldnot be started.

What could be the problem?. Do i need to change from FEDORA CORE to something else? OR is it the problem with system hardware?

Thanks in advance Tuks

Hi, based on my experience, Fedora Core can do parallel run with other linux machine. But you need to use ssh instead rsh.

Set your CFX5RSH variable to ssh.

Also, regarding the licensing stuff. You have to have acfx5parallel to run a parallel job, and an acfx5parproc for each process in the parallel run, including the host.
