Moving wall

Hi,
I have a fluid domain with a moving wall (sliding motion) at one boundary. If I want to modelise this wall (with a thickness now) as a solid domain, then how should I make this wall moving? (there is no condition on that for solid domain). Am I obliged to make a moving mesh?? I'm sure someone as experienced that already and can help me. Thanks. Juan |

Hi,
I think you have to define a Subdomain which location is your Solid Domain, then you may define the mesh motion for this Subdomain. Rui |

Hi,
The best way of modelling your moving wall will depend on the geometry. Rui's suggestion of moving mesh will work for some geometries - although note in CFX57 and later it is better to define the solid and fluid sections as separate domains rather than using subdomains. With the release of CFX10 you will be able to define non-overlapped sections of GGI interfaces as walls. Previously non-overlapped sections on GGI's could only be slip walls. This may be useful in modelling your moving wall as you would be able to use GGI interfaces to allow mesh sliding. Whether this helps or not depends on your geometry. Finally, the only reason you would be modelling the moving solid is if you were modelling temperature in the moving solid. Regards, Glenn |

True, my idea is to model temperature in the moving solid. I keep in mind your idea guys, thanks. But maybe I will wait the new release of CFX.
