Laminar Separation

Hi,
Does anyone know if CFX5 can accurately predict laminar separation when using the laminar 'turbulence model'? I am interested to know as it claims to predict separation transition with its new transition model, but am unsure whether it uses a separate feature to attached transition. Many thanks Adam |

Hi Adam,
If you are asking can CFX5 accurately predict laminar flows with separations, the answer is yes. There is no need for turbulence or transition models if the flow is laminar. Or are you asking about the transition models? Regards, Glenn Horrocks |

Thanks Glenn,
I was ultimately enquiring about the ability to model separated transition, so was wanting to know if it could accuratley model non transitional laminar separation. This is because the transition model utlises one correlation for all types of transition, and I'm not sure how physically accurate that correlation would be. Also I was trying to understand whether the model required a special set of equations for separated transition. Regards Adam |
