Hello,all
In tutorial 15(Multiphase Flow in Mixing Vessel),the meshes of the two domains are in CFX-4 and CFX-5 Def/Res file formats respectively. When importing the impeller, the mesh was moved (transformed) to its correct position. I have two questions regarding this procedure: 1)How the distance of the tranformation was determined (in this tutorial, Dx: 0.275, Dy: 0, and Dz: 0) 2)How to generate the two domains via Workbench? Again, if I generate the mesh seperately(in two mesh files), how to determine the distance to move when importing mesh in CFX-pre? If I generate the two domains togetheras two bodies (in one mesh file), how to mesh the two bodies seperately in CFX-mesh? Thanks for your time and suggestions! Andrew |

Hi,
Well, now that you asked so nicely.... Q1) The transformation distance is whatever is required to get the impeller and stator to properly match. Q2) You can generate a mesh suitable for multi-domain models by either meshing each part seperately and importing the meshes seperately into CFX-Pre, or meshing it simultaneously. Have a look at a tutorial problem where they do a multi-domain mesh for how to do it. Glenn Horrocks |

For Q1), I understand that 'the transformation distance is whatever is required to get the impeller and stator to properly match', But I am not clear how that distance was determined in this tutorial. Does that comes from the the difference of reference coordinates when generate the two geometry(or mesh) files? For Q2), 'You can generate a mesh suitable for multi-domain models by either meshing each part seperately and importing the meshes seperately into CFX-Pre'-----------with DM and CFX-mesh, can I build the two domains in one geometry file and generate different meshes for them? Or I must build the two domains in seperate geometry files and then meshing seperately? Regards! Andrew |

Hi,
Q2) Just after the section of my answer you quoted I said "or mesh it simultaneously". Yes, you can mesh multiple domains simultaneously. Do whatever is easiest for your geometry. Glenn Horrocks |
