Default How to model internal Wall in ICEM5?

Hello everbody, Can anyone say how to model Internal walls(a 2d surface) in ICEM 5 Hexa as it is there for tetra in mesh parameters. Thank you Regards Fredrick

Search through a few earlier posts; this has been explained a few times before.

Basically, you need to assign the internal surfaces to the hex block faces. I'm not 100% sure, but i don't think you need to specify the internal walls in the tetra mesh parameter menu, if you're using hexa (Prob best to do it anyway for good measure).

When you export to CFX you will get two walls with the same name and numbered 1 & 2.

One way to make sure that you're getting the right thing is to do the hexa meshing with the internal face associated with a surface. When you then convert the pre-mesh to an unstructured mesh, it will give you that surface as a 2D mesh. You can take this mesh straight into CFX, which will number it as 1 & 2, but you can also do a face split from the mesh editing menu. The trick is to know which side of the thin wall is which, though! I guess the best way of getting around this is to have different names for the volumes on either side of the wall.

Hello everybody, Thanks James and Charles.Now i am able to create internal wall in hexa by associating the face to surface. How to do parametrization in ICEM5(all geometry,block and mesh parameters)?.

I guess that there are various approaches. One is to do the parameterization of the geometry in the CAD, export to ICEM, load previously generated blocking (where you can have different blocking spacings, or even topology in different files) and associate with the new geometry. This can all be scripted in ICEM.
