Hi,every guy! When I import the model and mesh geo files generated in cfx4.4 into the Pre of cfx5.6,I have encountered the following error:

ERROR There was a problem importing the mesh from the requested file. The importing process reported the following problem:

Hexahedral Element 1183 will degenerate to an invalid element:

NodeIDs: 1183, 1184, 1264, 1264, 2488, 2499, 2500, 2488

How can I deal with it successfully?Would you give me the proper means to solve it?

Thanks ahead!I expect the answer from you,my friend!

Hai Gukuang,

I do have the same error, when I created mesh in ICEM and tried to import in CFX.
If you have found the solution, requesting you to give suggestion.

Thanks,
Thuyavan.S

Did you generate this mesh in ICEM by extruding a surface quad mesh via rotation around a centerline?

If you did, did you merge the centerline nodes after rotation.

Also, I recommend you run Checkmesh in ICEM prior to export, that fixes alot of issues.

Hai,

Thanks for the reply. The model was modelled in CAD software and imported in ICEM. Then mesh is created by converting blocking into unstructed mesh. As I tried to import this mesh model into CFX, I got the same error.

If this error is due to import model(STL format). Modelling the model in ICEM, will eradicate the error?

Thanks,
Thuyavan.S

Geom format plays no issue. It is your mesh buildup that has the issue.

Did you run check mesh? Did it highlight any issues?

Usually check mesh will alert you of issues that will cause problems when importing into your CFD code.
