Dear all,
I am doing a transient simulation using ansys cfx 12.0 in a cluster. The simulation has run smoothly for more than a month. However, a few days ago I have found that the .out and .mon files suddenly stopped being written while the case was still running and the full backup files and transient results (.trn) could still be created. At that time, I thought there could be something wrong with the cluster and I did not take any effective measures since I thought the bakeup files seems enough for me. Up until recently, I just downloaded the bakeup files every 500 timesteps. But more unfortunately, yesterday I found that the bakeup files suddenly stopped being created as well while the case was still running. Even though I pressed the "bakeup" button manually in the cfx5solve interface, the bakeup file still could not be created but only left a .trn file with a size of 0B. I want to know what caused this problem and might there be any way to fixed it without stopping the simulation? Thanks very much!!! Mona |

I have no idea what is causing your problem. Very long runs like this do suffer from strange things like this from time to time, that is why you must do backups while running for very long runs.
But you are running a seriously old version of the software so an obvious response is to update to the current version.
