Yes,

the flow in a sanitary system is an open channel flow and requires the resolution of the interface between the water and the air. This is often called free-surface flow. Further, in such equipment one may be interested in the movement of another phase which can be modeled as either an Eulerian fluid or as a Lagrangin particle in CFX-5.6
