I want to realize a computational modal study of a centrifugal pump in order to investigate its resistance to an earthquake during its functioning (taking into account the influence of flow’s temperature on the modal response of the pump). I wonder what is the best field coupling way to do that on Ansys workbench , also if is it more accurate to use CFX instead of Fluent in this case study .
Thank you in advance for helping |

I certainly don't know exactly what you're doing, but don't think a cfd is needed. The stiffness properties of the pump material don't change much with temperature unless it gets really hot.

It depends on what modal response you are looking for. Are you talking about modal response of the pump impeller or mechanical features (eg housing)? Or modal response of the fluid system it is part of? Or a coupled modal response of the mechanical and fluid components?
