Axis of rotation

Hi All,
I have been doing my simulation, using the MFR approach, of a mixing vessel with rotation by x axis, I did this because I experienced some problems when I attempted to set it by z axis. So far my results look qualitatively reasonable. Thus, I see the type of flow profiles that I expect for U, V, W. k and epsilon. They look very much like those in which the rotation is along z axis. Is the axis of rotation crucial in any way?? thanks Dunga |

In CFX-4, yes (it has to be the X axis).
In CFX-5, there is no issue as far as I know. |

Hi Holiday,
Thanks for your response, Holiday. You must have realized that i took long to respond. .....My apologies. The reason is that I wanted to quote a page in the Manual, where they say that the rotation must be about the Z axis (CFX4.4), however i could not locate the page immediately. I have been specifying my rotation about x axis, just as you have said. regards Dunga |

I would be surprised if CFX-4 maunal said rotation was about the Z axis...
PS Is Dunga a reference to the football player? Good guy indeed... |

Hi Holiday,
I am a footballer, yes, but not related to the other Dunga. I believe you are right that it has to be about the X axis. This is what I have been doing. I suspect that I misread something, probably the " Z CYCLES PER REVOLUTION" for the cyclic connections in the transient (SG) simulation. regards Dunga |
