Hi,
I have two identical machines. One with NT and another with Linux Slackware. Why the machine which contains NT is 40% faster than the Linux one? I was wondering if I change to RedHat. Will I get a speedup?

PS.: Both Pentium IV 2.53GHz and 1Gb RAM. CFX-5.5.1 with the latest patch installed.

Regards, cfd guy

Generally speaking you should. RedHat is the supported platform anyway and CFX UK may have done some code testing wrt OS.

My experience shows, for large problems, that CFX-5 running on Windows 2000 Pro is just slightly faster (2% or so) than on RedHat Linux 7.3. Same problem, identical machine configuration, parallel on 2 cpu's. CFX-5 is ONLY omptimized for RedHat Linux 7.x.

Cheers, Jeff
