Hi all,
Recently, our CFX software has changed from the version 5.4.1 to 5.5 now. So, I would like to ask how to open the old version database again. Since there's a message that "The database selected for opening is in an older format and needs to be updated. Please select a file name into which the database file will be copied, updated, and opened." Apart from the Build, will files in other modules need to update as well? And how to update? Or where can I find the relevant reading to this problem? Anyone can help me or give me sugguestions? Thank you for the help in advance. best regards, Alky |

Hi Sara,
You can always open the database in 5.4.1, if you still have it installed. Build 5.5 will update the database automatically for you, just give it a new name a click OK. As for the .def and .res files, they do not need updating unless you wish to use options which are new to 5.5. By the way, 5.5 has been out for a long time now, since November of last year. 5.5.1 is just about to be released. Regards, Robin |

We actually experienced some problems with the conversion from 5.4.1 to 5.5. We simulate compressible gas (general fluid). After importing an old database (5.4.1) and writing a new .def file. The def file contained different settings (suddenly it had all kind of stuff for time dependent calculations which we didn't specify). So it is not exactly a one-on-one translation I'm afraid.
