Hi all,
got a little problem, but maybe you can help me I am modelling the flow through a pipe with a transient simulation using CFX and want to export vectors at a specific point at the single timesteps. I’ve inserted a Point at the desired location and am able to display the vector in the 3D-viewer at the selected timestep. But, is there any chance to display the vectors of all the timesteps in one viewer together, maybe even in a plot? And is there an easy way to display the different components (X, Y and Z) of the vector in CFX Post without exporting it to a .csv-file? Many thanks for your help in advance!!! |

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a solution yet. Is there maybe anybody with an idea?

Hi Didi! I'm having the same problem that you, I need to evaluate an expression in diferent timesteps but I can't be able to find how to do it. If I learn anything I will let you know.
Have a nice day, Daniel |

You should be able to plot this, and make an animation.
Chart Create an expression: probe(velocity u)@Point 1 Create a chart where you plot this expression vs time. Animation: Show your vector that you want to animate. click on animation, quick animation, pick your vector and play/save the animation. |

Hi evcelica,
many thanks for your reply! I am not sure if I am doing it right, but when plotting the expression vs time, I only get the absolute values. Is there also a way, to plot the bundle of vectors as arrows to see the direction, the different vectors point at? In fact, what I can get in the animation, is the thing, I am looking for, but just in one plot? |

Do you have (Plot absolute values) checked on your chart definition?
I don't know how to make a vector plot of all time steps at once though. Maybe create the animation, and output as images instead of video. Then take these images and merge them together using some 3rd party software or a website like this one: https://www.mergeimages.com/ |

You can't do this directly. Post only shows one timestep at a time.
What you can do is export the velocity field of each timestep, reload it and then create one vector plot for each. It is a very manual process, but with a bit of scripting it can be automated. Cheers |
