All,
I was just having this conversation with a recruiter at my college. I told him as a student I love ANSYS, but he said they dont have it since it is "too expensive." However, didnt ANSYS recently make the student version free? If I work at a company, is it legal to use your student license (with all the limitations on meshing and stuff) to run analyses? |

Talk to ANSYS about getting the student version. You are correct - it is either free or a small cost.
I am not sure of the licensing details it uses, but I am certain that it has a clause which prevents commercial work. Check the license conditions for the license to be sure, but I am sure this will be the case. |

Yes, you definitely can not use it for anything but academic purposes.
