Default CFD Post Electric Field and Current Density

Dear All,

I did a simulation of Joule heating in ANSYS CFX 14.5.

The run was successful. I would like to know how to extract data of electric field and current density over time.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

What data do you want to extract? What do you want to do with the data? What form is the data to be in?

Hi there,

I am sorry for a such late reply. Somehow, I have not received any notification to my email from cfd-online.

The problem is that I simulated heat transfer problem with an electrical heat source. I compared temperature increase with the analytical solution. However, I would like to know what was the amount of power generated within the simulated body (the electrical power generated = electrical field * current density)

My calculation run in CFX Pre was successful and the temperature rise matched the analytical solution. However, when I try to integrated power over the body's volume in CFD Post, CFD Post does not provide me with a value.

While setting my initial and boundary conditions in CFX Pre, I get a warning message: "In Analysis 'Flow Analysis 1' - Domain 'A': Simulations using the Electromagnetic Model require an ANSYS CFD MHD license. A case using the Electromagnetic Model can be set up in CFX-Pre, but will only be able to run in the solver with the required license available. Please contact your ANSYS representative for further details." It seems that although I do not have the required license, I am still able to run and get valid result as the temperature increase was validated versus analytical solution.

I would like to ask you, is it possible that due to unavailability of the license I cannot get the power output in CFD Post?

If the only source in the domain is the electrical heating, the total heat generated in the volume is reported in the output file under the T-Energy Flow Summary for the domain of interest.

If you do not have the license, the ANSYS CFX Solver will stop with the proper message. If the run finished successfully the model was included.
