I am struggling to understand the difference between coupling and stagger iterations. What exactly is going on during stagger iterations? It was my understanding that a coupling iteration is when ANSYS calculates and then passes displacements to CFX, CFX deforms the mesh, solves, passes forces to ansys, From the flow chart (figure 5.4 'sequence of synchronization poitns' in the CFX documentation) a stagger iteration is an iteration internal to the process I just described and I cannot figure out what it is doing.

Thanks,
