.trn file merging and .res creation

Hey all,
In light of all I read on this forum, my simulations work great, thanks all you guys! Now, I am running simulations on a cluster, and it happened to time out during the .trn and .mon file merging process (so after the run succesfully finishes), leaving me without a .res file. Hence, I am in a situation similar to http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/cfx...-bunching.html, apart from the fact I am not using Ensight. Now, yes, I can run through the time-history postprocessing by selecting all the files manually. Is there a way to restart/continue that file-merging process, to obtain such a .res file? Or is there a way to forego such post-solving operation and just keep the .trn without the time history (time history file being ~300 mb x 1080 timesteps)? |

Do you have a file in your directory called zxbyfx or something like that?
That is a results file that cfx hasnt moved over due to some issue. If it is there, rename it <jobname>.res and you should be able to use that. |

Hi Singer,
When it stops for a reason other than cluster-timeout, I remember seeing that file, and will remember that trick. Fortunately, it appears that the "res" file is not damaged, or that it at least keeps track of created .trn files. By looping over .trn in a macro, turns out a .res is not really needed afterall, although it is "nice" to have. Cheers! |
