Using ANSYS Workbench 14.5, I am creating a centrifugal compressor for compressible flow and I keep getting the following errors in CFX-Solver Manager and have tried absolutely everything that I can think of to resolve these issues in CFX-Pre and even consulted the manuals and forums.
The system fails to even run. The messages I get are: 1. An error occurred in cfx5solve: The ANSYS CFX Solver exited with return code 1. No results file has been created. 2. ANSYS Workbench The solver failed with a non-zero exit code of : 2 3. Solver run terminated with errors Fluid flow CFX_015 has terminated with errors. Run concluded at:Thu 10 Apr 17:07:39 2014 No results are available. 4. ERROR #002100080 has occured in the subroutine CHECK_NORMV Message: The specified velocity vector on the boundary patch Blade leading edges has a significant normal component at one or more faces. One of these face location is (x,y,z) =(1.47935E-02, 2.64517E-03, -1.49497E-02) The angle between the specified velocity and the element surface is 84.352 degrees at this face. This is considered an error because it implies that the mesh is moving. The following are possible reasons for the error message: 1. There is a setup error; for example, an incorrect axis of rotation. 2. There may be a meshing problem; for example, the nodes on a rotating surface might not lie on the surface of revolution. 3. The boundary is curved and the mesh is very coarse. In this case, you may modify the tolerance by increasing the expert parameter 'tangential vector tolerance wall' from its default of 20 degrees. Please help! |

Errors 1, 2 and 3 are just the actual error trickling through the ANSYS system. Error 4 is the real error.
And the error describes exactly the problem - you have defined tangential motion on a wall boundary, but the motion you described is not tangential to the wall. The error message gives some additional information about what you can do. |
