I have just started working on Ansys, and need to perform a simple translation motion. In the attached geometry, my requirement is that the piston moves from the point A to point B, accelerating uniformly till the mid point and then de-accelarating to zero velocity when it reaches point B. Can anyone help me regarding the procedure on how to do it, or give a clue on how to start?? The piston is moving a multi-phase liquid, comprising of liquid and small particles of a metal.

Define the motion as a displacement versus time. Then use moving mesh and apply the displacement to the piston face.
There are tutorials which come with CFX on how to set up moving mesh simulations. |

The tutorials come with CFX. Have a look in the tutorials manual.
