Hi,
I am running a transient simulation in CFX. The results file(.trn) are pretty large and I don't need the solutions at every point but at some predefined slice planes.

I know we can do this by adding monitor points but the results would look 'discrete' unless those are interpolated. It's time consuming for say like 200-300 files.

Is there a method to define slice planes in CFX PRE, so that I can export results on those planes alone?

Or anything similar?

I hope my question is clear.

You can create the planes in POST and then create a session file that loops through all your data. However, if you want to reduce overall file size, it would be better to export everything during the solution process.
PRE has an export tab under output control, where surface data can be exported.
I dont know if it work for planes through a domain, or only boundary surfaces. I guess you need to define your slice surfaces in the mesh.
