Porous domains in contact

Hello,
I am currently trying to model a CO2 migration from a saline aquifer. My model has 3 domains, one to represent the saline aquifer itself, one to represent the earth's crust and one to represent a body of water. The water is a fluid domain, while the earth's crust and saline aquifer are porous domains. I disabled the constant domain physics so I could assign different materials to the domains. However, on solving I get an error. I looked it up and found this: "Disabling constant domain physics only works if the domains are not connected, such as two domain separated by a solid region. If the two domains have an interface it will not work, so no surprises it gave an error." I have 2 porous domains in contact, is there a way around this? |

Why do you need different material properties in the fluid versus porous regions?

Hello,
Thank-you for your reply. I need different materials as supercritical CO2 is injected into one of the porous material but not the other. This means that only one of the porous domains will have the addition of CO2 in it's pore space. I notice in the ANSYS CFX material database that building board softwood/hardwood is defined as a solid rather than a porous material. The porous mediums in my model are basically 2 different types of rock, the one which is not having CO2 injected into it is sandstone. Like soft/hardwood already in the materials database, would I be able to model sandstone just as a solid, if so how do I define the permeability? |

Shouldn't this be modelled as a multicomponent model with water and CO2?
