Hello everybody!
I kindly ask you all if somebody knows if there is a way for setting a particular Reynolds value in Ansys 14.0 (noncommercial use), and if it was affermative, what steps I have exactly to follow to set it. Thank you in andvance for helping me. Ferdy |

CFX is a dimensional solver, so there is no way you can enter a Reynolds number directly. You can obtain a specific Re by setting boundary conditions and fluid properties, but since you havent described what you are trying to do we cant help you.

Thank you for the reply.
Actually the problem is that we are studying a flow of air in a channel at constant temperature, we have got this inlet conditions at the entry of the channel: Re = 80.000 characteristic length (h) = 0,05 m kinematic viscosity (v)=1,5*10^-5 m^2/s inlet velocity (u)=24 m/s The problem is that this value of the kinematic viscosity of the air at pressure of 1 bar should correspond at a temperature that lies between 16 and 17 °C, but automatically Ansys has got only air at 25°C in its library of fluids, or water, or ideal gas. I hope this is not a restriction because of the fact we are using a noncommercial version of Ansys (student version). If there is a way of modifying the tempearture of the air from "default domain" -> basic settings -> "fluid and particle definition" we should be able to upload a new fluid (add new item) but we don't know how to do this. Thank you very much. |

so.... your question boils down to how to create a new material?
See any of the tutorials on how to change/modify material properties. It is straightforward. I doubt that the student version has a restriction on creating new materials. |
