hi everybody

i made a cone for inlet of a power turbine with ICEM, after meshing, i read it from CFX, but when CFX read it, in the geometery, I have some unknown surfaces and area that i didn't produce them. i made my geo with various method, but the problem is still alive.
of course, i export my mesh from ICEM with Fluent type file, but Fluent cant read it!!!!
if anybody know about them, please help me.

thanks a lot.

Sounds like a problem with setting up the surfaces in ICEM. I would load the mesh in ICEM and fix the boundary surfaces up.

U should use AnsysCFX as solver for export from icem to Cfx . Why u r using Fluent type file for export

hi mat
i do this and use CFX solver, but some undesirible surface and area were made on the geometery.
Also, when i used the Fluent_V6 solver, the exporting file dont read by CFX and Fluent.

thank you

Use AnsysCFX as solver for export in icem and when u import file in CFX pre use ICEMCFD in drop down menu of mesh format. It should work fine.
Also only mesh goes from ICEM CFD to CFX. If u see any undesirable surface in CFX it is geeting meshed in ICEMCFD. Zoom in zoom out fit view to check geometry in ICEM CFD for any unwanted surface.

sincerely yours.

Hi.
there are a lot of surfaces on the main(s) surface.
On the outlet boundary, for example, CFX divide the boundary in two zone, one is, some thing like as orthogonal mesh and one is rest of the boundary. when you want define the boundaries, you must select two or more surfaces for one boundary.

This might be just a CFX-Pre display thing or it could be you defined the surface to be patch work like this.

hi
when i want to specify boundary conditions, i must choose two surfaces for one boundary, whereas i have only one surface, and additional surf was created by CFX.
in any way, thank you for your attantion.
