Domain Size Too Small

Hi all,
I am currently trying to run a simulation on a FSAE car. I am only using the student version of Ansys so have to stay within the 512,000 maximum. To achieve this while maintaining a reasonable approximation of the geometry I've had to make the domain much smaller than I had hoped. This has caused the simulation to be very unstable with significant reversed flow. Is there anyway I can avoid this while staying under the cell limit? Many thanks. |

Is this for homework for an undergrad course? Can you ask your lecturer?
ANSYS Fluent can do prism cells, this may reduce the mesh count. |

Large cells far from the vehile won't add much of the cell count. In external aero, it is not unusual to have upto 12 levels of refinement to manage the size of the task. I think I could help you. Just drop me an e-mail martin.novak.cfd@gmail.com Martin |
