11th community OpenFOAM Workshop: finally managed to attend one of these! Part 2

This is the second part of a long blog post, see the first part here.

Continuing about the 29th:
  • Next was Robin Knowles presentation, with a pretty awesome presentation on the first season of 12 pod-casts he's done with CFD experts, although mostly oriented to the business side of things. He told us a bit about himself and his career; then he gave the highlights of the podcasts.

11th community OpenFOAM Workshop: finally managed to attend one of these! Part 1

While the latest OpenFOAM-dev and 4.0 snapshots are building on my machine, I'm taking the opportunity to write a bit of what happened at the 11th community OpenFOAM Workshop this year (2016), at least from my point of view. I'm not going to write everything, otherwise it would be a short book, including information that was damaged due to memory compression in my mind.

I've been using OpenFOAM since 2009 and only this year did I finally manage to go to an international community workshop...

OpenFOAM with ICC - Intel's ICC is "allergic" to AMD CPUs

This is yet another one of my "rants on my blog" I do once in a while.

So today I was trying to reproduce this report: http://www.openfoam.org/mantisbt/view.php?id=590 - I was curious about this, because ICC is known for having great optimization on Intel processors (or at least it had in the past), as well as being completely free for non-commercial use on Linux.

The detail here is that I don't have an Intel CPU on my home computer. I've got an AMD 1055T x6 ...
