Validation Cases Using Ansys Fluent
Posted September 18, 2018 at 08:47 by varun.vysyaraju
Objective:
Steady state heat conduction with fixed temperature at both ends.
Problem Definition:
Two ends of wall subjected to constant temperature T1 = 393 K and T2 = 323K.
Wall of length, l = 0.2 m and thickness = 0.001 m
Thermal conductivity, k = 1.2 W/m-K
Methodology:
1. Ansys Fluent was used for simulation
2. Initial condition of temperature 323 K was given to domain
3. Left wall temp = 393 K ; Right wall temp = 323 K
4. Top and bottom boundaries were taken to be adiabatic i.e. heat flux q = 0
5. Compared with analytical solution
Analytical Solution:
T(x) = ((T2-T1)/L)*x + T1
Conclusion:
Numerical simulation carried out by fluent shows good agreement with analytical result.
