TSAGI HERITAGE, NACA23012, M=0.5, alpha = -1.2 grad

Posted May 15, 2014 at 04:09 by skeptik (CFD notes)

I have some useful papers totally on Russian.

I will post some experimental results about airfoils here as i will translate it to appliciable form.

Here are the results which could be easily plotted by GNUplot. They are from far away 1946, TSAGI (Central Aero-, Gas-Dynamics Institute) publisher.

Code:
#NACA 23012 exp. results alpha = -1°12' M=0.5
# Cp=(Pfoil - Pinfinity)/q; q = rho*U^2/2
#columns
# x, % Cp
#Upper

Ph.D. Thesis on LES

Posted May 1, 2014 at 13:24 by sbaffini (NuTBox)
Updated December 21, 2016 at 10:08 by sbaffini

I recently defended my thesis on Large Eddy Simulation, which is now available at:

http://hdl.handle.net/10589/89603

I won't spend too much words on promoting it, you can read the abstract for this. I just want to say it possibly provides a fresh view on the matter of implicit/explicit filtering, commutation errors and other evergreen topics in LES. As i put a specific effort on this, i also hope that it might work as a not too heavy introduction on LES in general. Finally,...

y+ calculator for equilibrium flows

Posted April 10, 2014 at 04:58 by sbaffini (NuTBox)
Updated December 21, 2016 at 10:08 by sbaffini

y+ calculation is, possibly, the most pervasive topic among CFD practitioners and, certainly, anybody doing CFD for more than a month already has his own tool to compute it.

Still, all the y+ calculators i am aware of rely on a very specific flow condition, namely, a flat plate boundary layer. This is probably the most common practical case but not the only option. For example, the fully developed flow in a pipe is cretainly different and possibly requires a different input for the...
