Just found a solutioin to my problem from another thread on the forum (thanks fremdar!)

I thought i'd post it here anyway in case anyone is having a similar problem:

Export a CGNS-file (selecting Velocity magnitude for me) from Fluent

Open the CGNS file using the CGNS Loader in Load data files option in tecplot.
