SAS – cutting on your computational budget in an unsteady*manner

Posted May 18, 2017 at 17:47 by Avr.Tomer

The following is taken from*CFD ISRAEL*blog (thoughts of a CFD blogger), addressing a branch of Scale Resolving Simulation known as 2nd generation URANS.
The specific SAS model is a*2-equation*unsteady RANS model, able to get very good quantitative results for many unsteady flows even on a relatively coarse mesh.

Understanding The k-ε Turbulence*Model

Posted May 18, 2017 at 17:42 by Avr.Tomer

The k-ε turbulence model still remains among the most popular. Most known is the Jones-Launder*k-ε turbulence model.

In the following newly posted*on CFD ISRAEL blog (CFD thoughts of a blogger), a*thorough evaluation of the model and its drawbacks*are presented.

Understanding The k-ω SST Model

Posted May 18, 2017 at 17:38 by Avr.Tomer

Florian Menter's k-ω SST is one of the most reliable and trusted RANS two-equation eddy-viscosity turbulence models for the simulation of attached boundary-layer flows with adverse pressure gradient, and also serves as first choice for hybrid RANS-LES DES by many.

The following taken from CFD ISRAEL blog (thoughts of a CFD blogger) is intended to give a short and thorough review of the main reasons for the k-ω SST*Model popularity.

Understanding The Spalart-Allmaras Turbulence*Model

Posted May 18, 2017 at 17:33 by Avr.Tomer

The Spalart-Allmaras model devised by P. Spalart and S. Allmaras (of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group) is maybe the most popular RANS turbulence closure model for aerodynamic flows.

In the following newly posted*on CFD ISRAEL blog (thoughts of a CFD blogger), a brief evaluation of the model is presented.
