Hi.
I am trying to calculate thermal stresses in a cylinder. i have created the model, selected element type thermal solid "Quad4 node55". Now when i try to mesh, it shows the following error: "Element type 1 is PLANE55, which cannot be used with the VMES command. Meshing of volume 1 is aborted." Can anybody please help... I am using ANSYS 12.1 Mechanical APDL Thanks in advance |

hi,
as the error says you are trying to mesh a volume with 2D plane element types. For solid use either SOLID 164(8 node brick element) or SOLID 168 (10 node tetrahedral elements) or SOLID 70 (thermal element) Cheers |
