I am carrying out a flow simulation on a 3D wing which has varying aerofoils. So my model is that i have a box where cut out the wing geometry. Now I want to mesh a surface mesh in the wing using rectangular elements. I still could not do that using the workbench meshing software. Can anyone give me a suggestion

Use ICEM CFD to create a structured hex mesh with the blocking abilities. Ansys meshing module has limited capabilities for creating an hex mesh, and wont be capable for properly meshing a 3D wing body with hex elements.

Thanks a lot Michel. I also want to ask this as well most of the complex wing faces are meshed using triangular elements some of the publications that i have came across have used a tetrahedral unstructured scheme. Is hex is better than this. I want to clarify since my model is also has a complex wing which has a dihedral and a sweep so what scheme you recommend in order to simulate wake vortices.
Thanks again for the reply. |
