I'm having difficulty setting up translational periodic boundaries in ICEM v12.
I've modeled a simple 10x10x10 unit cube in ICEM. If you number the sides as if it were a dice:
Does anyone have any suggestions? |

One direction only, but can work around to get more.

Right, ICEM CFD doesn't currently support periodicity in two directions, at least not directly.
You can get around this by copying the surface mesh from one side to the other, replacing the existing surface mesh and then performing "make consistent" or simply remeshing the volume. This works easiest if the edge params were the same at the periodic corners... We are looking to fix this soon with a "match control" that would allow matching mesh in any direction. This is in Workbench Meshing now, but does not yet support dual periodicity if it shares an edge (as it would in your case). We should improve match edges in WB to handle this soon also. |

I realize this is a bit of an old thread, but this very relevant to what I am trying to do right now. I have created a mesh, copied the desired surface mesh to the face that I want to be periodic. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to "make consistent". I have tried, but it ends up moving the nodes on the periodic face. How can I prevent it from moving these nodes? The other problem is that when I try to make consistent I end up with some problems where there seems to be missing volumes or holes in the face mesh. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.
I would like to know if now it is possible to apply the periodicity in 2 directions and how. My problem is very similar to the one explained above. I'm trying to apply the periodicity in the 2 directions without any success (I am running ICEM CFD 19.1). Thank you, Fabio |
