Grid Convergence Index - where to find required data?

Hello,
I am using ANSYS Mesh and FLUENT to model the flow around an aerofoil, and am struggling to find either the average cell edge length or average cell area (ideally the average cell area) to input into the equation giving a representative cell size, later resulting in the Grid Convergence Index. I have read in the manual and forums and have not found a way to do this in either Mesh or FLUENT; I have only been able to find the characteristic length. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

In Fluent, under General>Check Mesh it'll give you some face area and volume stats for mesh. You can check mesh metrics in ANSYS meshing but I don't remember how to get mesh area stats.

I'd simply take L = (avg. cell volume)^1/3
I believe Fluent does not give you that much mesh statistics info ... Perhaps take it it to Fluent Meshing, Otherwise, you can take it to ICEM which I'm 100% sure that gives you these statistics. |
