Dear All,
I have a fluid-structure interaction problem dealing with big deformation in the structural part. My current machine is an Intel Core i7 with 3.60GHz velocity and 32 GB RAM, which I think is a good machine. But, it take too much time to run a 2 seconds run, almost 24 hours. Is it related to writting outputs, which I may need a SSD hard drive to accelerate that? Structural mesh has about 5000 elements and Fluent part has around 300,000 elements. I don not want to reduce number of elements. I do have a grant to buy another machine, so what do you think is better to get? Regards, Malekan |

If writing output is the problem, an SSD would not really solve your problem. While an SSD is usually much faster than an HDD, it is still much much slower than the RAM.
Have you tried running the same simulation without any output before the end time? |

Dear MakisH,
Thanks for your comment. I will try to run the problem without any output until the end time, to see what I can get! Regards, Malekan |
