Hi all,

I'm currently working on a 2D open-rotor aircraft configuration, the problem i'm facing is that i cannot properly define the interface between rotor cell zone and the farfield to be able to use it in Fluent's mesh motion feature. The rotor is supposed to rotate at 1200 rpm. The rotor and the farfield are two separate surfaces.

At the region of the interface there are two curves, one attached to the rotor, the other to the farfield. The two curves are coincident. I mesh both regions and export it to Fluent, but it gives me errors in the mesh. I don't know the problem is exactly. Is there a proper way to define an interface in ICEM that could solve this problem?

Hi Omar,

I read your problem and I could help you better if you send me a sketch or something like that. However, if you are having a problem with defining interfaces which are on top each other and then run ''Build Topology'', it will delete one of the overlapping curves. For this problem, I suggest you make the mesh separately for your 2 zones. Mesh the first zone with one interface and save the mesh. Then mesh the second zone and save that one in the same folder. Open the first .uns file and on top of that open the second .uns file. The software will ask you whether you want to merge or not and click merge! Define your BC and output the mesh. When you go to fluent, you will see both your interfaces are there.

Hope it helps.

Best.
