Hi there,
I worked with OpenFOAM before, at the moment I have to work with CFX for University. For our assignment we have to analyse a one-phase flow with a sudden contraction. Where the pipe becomes small, we have a small vortex which we have to measure. For the length we created an isosurface in CFD-Post with a small negative velocity in the direction of flow (here in x direction - velocity u, -1e-6m/s) to get a closed isosurface around the vortex. If we choose a velocity of 0 we would get the whole boundary as well. Afterwards we did an Isoclip so we can measure the distance between the maximum and minimum x-value of the Isoclip with an expression, as is seen in the picture below. However the Isoclip goes through the middle of the vortex so we can not measure the height of the vortex with this method, as seen in this picture: Does someone have an idea how to measure the height? One idea of us was, that the rotation at the vortex boundary should be zero but we don't know how to measure that. Thanks a lot for your help in advance! Regards Mojo |
