I am having problems meshing (unstructured) an airofoil (2D) with a serrated trailing edge as the skewness is coming up to be very high. Any tips as to how I can approach the problem will be awesome.

Hello, I am having the same problem. Working on a very similar airfoil and it seems to be the high skew comes from the meshing in between each serration and on the end of each serration. Still trying to fix it myself. The picture included highlights the cells that have a skew of over 0.85.

Modify the geometry slightly I.e. cut off the sharp trailing edge to give you a small blunt edge. Then apply an equivalent mesh size to that ‘blunt’ surface.
This change to the geometry will result in a better mesh and an insignificant change to your results. |
