Dear All,
I have recently restarted using CFD after a pause of around 4 years. I was previously using Pro-E and Gambit as a modeller/meshing software. Can you please identify the new packages within the ANSYS suite that replaced Gambit. Thanks in advance!! |

Welcome back, Lancashire,
ANSYS is big on promoting DesignModeler for modelling volumes and Meshing for -not so surprisingly- meshing. Additionally, much praise is given to ICEM, which is supposedly a good meshing software if hexahedral mesh is desired. DM and Meshing are included with Workbench, which is also a new thing for modellers from ANSYS. It's basically a tool for binding the used ANSYS softwares for proper use (DM is linked to Meshing is linked to Fluent etc.). While you're trying the Workbench environment, tou might also be interested in checking out the new post-processing software CFD-Post. Hope this helps you out, have a good one. |

ANSYS also has spaceclaim for geometry prep.
ICEM is fine for tet and hexa meshing, just a lot less user friendly than ANSYS mesher (which itself is much improved in the last couple of versions and now includes ICEM technology). There is also Fluent mesher, but Gambit is gone |
