Hi
Thank you for coming in. I appreciate for any comments you have.
I want to simulate a simple structure similar to the air hockey we play. So I will just use the air hockey to explain what I want.
I want to see how the puck is moving responding to the air blowing underneath. As a background, I just start to use Ansys and no mechanical background at all. I have been told the 6 DOF in fluent can simulate my case. The UDF was tricky. I found the DEFINIE_CG_Motion codes from the UDF tutorial. It looked like the one I need. When I tried to compile it, the error showing "file is not compiled for 2d on the current platform (win64)." After searching around, I know it is the problem of visual studio. I am trying to download the VS from 10 to 12 and adding those environment variables. I hope it works.
Can someone tell me if I am doing the right thing? Can I use different module in ANSYS that just does the job without knowing the theory behind. I hope it is easier than the 6 DOF. Is the code I found correct? Any tutorials would be so great. Gosh, this software is so hard to use.
Any comments would be appreciated.

6DOF is probably the best approach. It can be done by coupling ANSYS Mechanical with ANSYS Fluent too, but there's no reason to do that here. 6DOF in CFX is easier to use - nothing to compile. If you get hold of CFX then start with the tutorial that uses 6DOF.

Hi Stumpy
Thank you for your help. I will look at 6DOF in specific.
