Hi,

I am trying to carry out a goal driven optimization on ANSYS workbench on a 2D airfoil. The problem is that when I finish the Optimization I go back to the geometry to view the 'optimized' airfoil, only to see that it is only the dimensions that have changed (I found this out when I drew a line over the dimensioned points, only to find out that the line is the same length as the 'pre-optimized' airfoil) and not the airfoil itself.

The input parameter in question is of the thickness of the airfoil (a dimension form the top to the bottom of the airfoil mid-section)

I have seen other optimization tutorials, were the parameter chosen is a function (revolve, extrusion etc…), I’m almost certain that the issue has to do with using the dimension itself as the parameter, but I have no idea what else to set as the parameter due to how the airfoil was designed (spline).

Things to note:

- - I had to design the airfoil on design modeler as I do not have the ‘add-in’ to use Solidworks (which will not update the geometry post optimization)

- - The airfoil is not a NACA profile, due to not being able to import from Solidworks or import from any txt files (would not work for me). It was designed using construction points, a spline and surface from sketches were created.

Any help would by highly appreciated
