Hi,
I hv imported points in design modeller and joined the points using polyline option to form the complete curve of my airfoil. Now, I wnted it to exprt to ICEM cfd for meshing. But I am unable to exprt it in .igs format. Also, I tried to import geom. by workbench reader and formatted point data (import geometry) but in vain. error shown: ERROR: pIPartMgr->AttachAssembly() failed! Current Coordinate system is global Done Plz help!! |

Why you're unable to export geometry from DM to IGES?

Thnx for ur reply. It doesnt allow to export in igs or stp file. whenever I go for it shows error as
: "The file is not saved. The model geometry is not valid for this save operation." |

You can try this:
Save your Workbench project and open ICEM CFD. In ICEM tab 'File' is a tool 'Workbench Readers'. You can import geometry from your project. oh sorry, you've tried this. so maybe you should try to create your geometry in some cad modeler (NX,CATIA...) and import it to ICEM. |

I tried a lot bt cud nt import it in anyway. So, went with 3D model of the airfoil i.e I extruded it and then exported it in .igs format and it worked. Howevr,I dnt knw d rsn.

Ok.
So you just can't export only lines to IGES, you have to make surface from your sketch and then export it. I think that solves your problem. |

Ya...I think,it isnt possible if I import it by using point(option). Bt I cud export the 3D curve...I dnt understand whats the matter..do u hv ny idea.
Moreover, do you know any links for meshing 3D airfoil..thnx. |

I'm not sure, but I think that IGES does not support models which contains only points or lines - 2D. 3D Curve is in default treated as a 3D model because it has 3 coordinates (X,Y,Z) so it could be exported to IGES.
As to the tutorials - you should look for them in Google. Some users of cfd-online also created their own tutorials. |
