I am trying to create a 2D wind tunnel geometry with two airfoils in a tandem configuration. I am having problems subtracting both of the airfoil bodies from the wind tunnel domain. When I do not rotate the airfoil bodies to give them an angle of attack, the subtraction works fine. As soon as I rotate one (or both) of the airfoil bodies, the subtraction of both does not work. I am relatively new to 2D meshing with the ANSYS workbench as I have used gambit and ICEM in the past, but I am unsatisfied with the unstructured meshes that I am getting from ICEM and would like to try something different. If anyone has any further questions about my situation, please ask so I can help you help me resolve this.

Thanks

Geometry file would be help to specify the problem.

Here is the geometry I am working with. I need the rotated airfoils cut out of the rectangular domain. I hope I am just doing something stupid like missing a step. Thanks

I failed to obtain the subtraction by boolean operation with the two surfaces, but you can get the 2D domain by using Face Split, divide the surface with the outline of the airfoil. As an alternative, you can create the outline in sketch, then generate surface from sketch. Body operation is avoided by doind so. Lines could also be rotated, scaled and translated in the sketch environment.

BTW, could you let me know if you find out the root cause of failure of surface body boolean?
