Dear All,
I tried to mesh the model that has rotational periodicity using cutcell method. But mesh in periodic faces are not similar. Is it possible to use cutcell meshing for periodic models?

At last I found that periodic meshing is not possible with cutcell meshing.
Is there is any chance it will be available in next release? This is much useful meshing method but I could not use it in my models because of this limitation.

Hi Far,
Thanks for your information. I also thinking of using this option in Fluent. But due to GGI interface also, there will be some accuracy loss. What do you think about this? Did you used this option before and validated for accuracy and result variation? By the way, I am trying to use Ansys meshing (AMP) for meshing not ICEM CFD.

Loss of accuracy is not noticeable as compared to other losses such as turbulence model, flow scheme, convergence error and interface error (e.g. mixing plane in rotor-stater interaction). I tried in CFX as well in Fluent and I am fully satisfied with results. Yes, you are correct as this option is only available in AM not in ICEM. |

Hi Far,
I am using only Fluent for simulations. I never used interface in periodic boundary condition as I thought this will reduce the accuracy of results. I think that I should try once with GGI interface in Fluent. And let's hope periodicity option for cut-cell meshing will be available in next release (Ansys 14.5). Once again thanks for your comments and response.

Hi Far,
Ok. I got your points. I will perform one simulation with GGI interface and let you know if I face any issues. Thank you
