ANSYS Meshing Mem Usage Seems High for 7 million Element Mesh

I am attempting to mesh a pretty complex geometry of a gas turbine combustor. The mesh has been split into a total of 35 bodies, all being part of a multibody part (to ensure conformity along adjacent faces). I am incorporating a wide variety of mesh methods: Tetra, multizone, and sweep.
My current mesh has about 7 million elements but seems to take up a large amount of memory (about 12.5 gb). I can't be certain but in previous meshing efforts I remember being able to generate meshes with about 13 million elements in less memory than this 7 million element mesh. Does anybody know if the memory usage I am seeing seems to be expected or does it seem high? Also, does anybody know any good tricks for optimizing memory consumption while using ANSYS mesher. Thanks, Jonathan |

you can mesh the bodies one by one.

I found out about the little gem known as "Direct Meshing" a couple of months ago. However, the generated mesh information will still remain in memory. It definitely helps to mesh each multibody part one by one (if it makes sense to do so) because ANSYS Meshing requires less resources during the mesh generation process. But after the mesh is created, that information still remains in memory.
I wanted to see if there was a possibility that there may be some other settings to make the mesh storage more efficient. |
